Missing Georgia Woman’s Body Found In Alabama Ravine; Man Charged

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP)-A man arrested in Dothan on a traffic warrant awaits transfer to Blakely, Ga. in the death of 55-yearold Lucy Major, who disappeared Friday.

Will Caudill, an investigator at the Early County Sheriff's Office, said 24-yearold Thaddeous Taylor faces murder and armed-robbery charges in Georgia.

Police said Taylor led officers to Major's body early Saturday in southeast Alabama woods near the Georgia line.

Taylor was arrested in Dothan for a driving-without-a-license warrant issued last year. He is being held in the Houston County Jail in Dothan.

Major's body was found about 1 a.m. Saturday in a ravine located off Houston County Road 85 in Gordon, near the Georgia state line, according to Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd.

Byrd said preliminary analysis of the body show that she was beaten and possibly stabbed. She was found wearing a night gown, her body wrapped in a quilt and partially submerged in water.

Caudill said investigators were told that Taylor possibly had a vehicle missing from the victim's home. Blood and signs of a struggle were found at Major's residence, he said.
