GREAT FALLS (AP)—A 4-year-old Ulm boy who was mauled by a family dog died Friday morning

The boy was playing in his back yard Thursday afternoon with the family’s two Rottweilers.  When his mom checked on him about 10 minutes later she saw one of the dogs on top of him, said Sgt. Bob Rosipal.

"He was unconscious and it appeared that he had been dragged all over the yard,” Castle said.

The boy had extensive injuries to his neck, torso and legs, “was in surgery for quite a few hours,” and died early Friday, the sheriff said.

Castle did not release the boy’s name.  The dog was euthanized.
